Our appetite is in perfect harmony with gold hominy! Prepared through a time-honored process dating back to 1500 B.C., these dried corn kernels are soaked in an alkaline lime solution to soften their outer hulls (a process known as nixtamalization). In Mexico, hominy is cooked with water and milk to make a thick beverage called atole. Our delicious gold hominy can be prepared the same way, cooked in soups, or finely ground into masa harina flour to make tortillas and tamales.

How to Cook Gold Hominy

Gold hominy can be prepared just like dried beans. To prepare 1 cup of dry gold hominy, soak the maize kernels overnight. Drain well and add fresh water to cover the hominy in a pot. Bring to a boil, and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for about 90 minutes to 2 hours. Drain well and incorporate the hominy into your favorite recipes.

Love this. Soaked it over night and cooked it. Only cook 1cup of it. Then eat it all the day I cook it. Nothing like canned hominy. I don’t cook with or add any fat or oil to my food. Just add some salt.
