Mix 1-2 teaspoons of chamomile powder with hot tea, water, or other beverages, and sweeten as desired. It can also be sprinkled over soups or side dishes. Adding a few tablespoons of chamomile powder to the batter of cookies, scones, and muffins will lend a delicate, floral fragrance to your baked goods.
Benefits of Chamomile Powder
Promotes Sleep: Tossing and turning at night? Chamomile powder can help you get a better night’s sleep. A 2005 study published in the Biological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin found that chamomile extract reduced the time it took for rats to fall asleep. Studies like this one suggest that chamomile may be beneficial in promoting restful sleep.
Reduces Anxiety: Feel like you’re constantly on edge? Chamomile powder can help reduce symptoms of anxiety. A 2009 study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology found that chamomile was superior to a placebo in treating patients with mild to moderate generalized anxiety disorder.
Improves Digestion: A spoonful of chamomile powder in hot tea or water relieves an upset stomach. Bitter compounds in chamomile powder stimulate the production of bile by the liver, which helps break down fats and supports normal digestion. Drinking a chamomile beverage after meals can ease pain and discomfort associated with digestive disorders.
Origins of Chamomile
Chamomile, also referred to as camomile or Matricaria chamomilla, is a flowering plant of the daisy family, and is native to Europe and Asia. The name chamomile is derived from the Greek word for “ground apple” because of the plant’s fruity aroma that is often compared to that of apples or quinces. The use of chamomile as a remedy dates as far back as ancient Egypt, where the herb was prescribed as a cure for fevers and digestive ailments. Today, chamomile is most commonly used as an herbal tea to promote restful sleep and alleviate upset stomachs.

I like it, a new product for me. I mix 1/2 teaspoon with my Sleepy Time tea! I was told by a medical professional to use it sparingly, it can thin your blood. I don’t know if that’s true.
