This coconut is fresher and you get way more for the money. I'd call that a bonus. The shredded coconut I use for cooking and this is the coconut I like using. Made some candy from some of this coconut I'd had for awhile, and they turned out perfect in texture, taste and smell. I froze some and kept another bag out for munching. We love it.
